Is a steel boned corset better? ›

If a company has been around for a while and describes it's corsets as steel boned then you can be pretty sure that metal boning is actually used. If you want to double check the easiest way is to use a magnet.

When you just start out with waist training, you'll be wearing your corset for an hour or two and then you'll ramp up to longer periods in your corset, eventually up to eight or even 12 hours a day. There are those that become very dedicated and waist train “23/7”, only removing their corsets to shower and exercise.

Wearing a steel boned corset due to certain reasons can add an extra layer of complication to the airport security process. While you may be allowed to keep the corset on, there is always the possibility that the metal components will set off the scanners and require further investigation from TSA agents.

For the first few times you wear your corset, keep it on for just an hour or two each day. You can increase this slowly over time, until your corset is ready to be worn all day long. You should aim to season your corset over the course of around 14 days - building up from 1-2 hours per day to 6 hours of wear per day.

Not necessarily. Some women feel perfectly comfortable wearing bralettes or undershirts instead of traditional bras, or using no undergarments whatsoever. It's important to understand that an underbust corset will not take the place of a bra, but that in no way mandates that you wear a bra with your underbust corset.

Steel supports the body in a way that plastic bones can't. Plastic weakens when bent and eventually snaps after extended wear, it is completely useless for corset training and a little dangerous in my opinion.

For those whose pain issues are exacerbated by irregular posture, we often recommend a corset with a high back and over-the-shoulder or crossed-back straps.
